Original 19th-century Japanese ukiyo-e triptych. Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III)

For sale: an authentic antique color woodblock print from the Edo period. The work is a classic triptych (comprising three joined original *ōban*-sized sheets). Artist: Utagawa Kunisada (1786–1864), a distinguished master of the Utagawa school who signed his works as Kōchōrō Toyokuni during this period. Precise dating: 1849–1853 (confirmed by the paired Hama and Magome censor seals on the face of the print). Subject: A print from the popular *Genji-e* genre (illustrations based on *The Tale of Genji*). It depicts Prince Mitsuuji surrounded by beautiful women in a traditional Japanese interior on a pleasant summer 100% Original: An authentic mid-19th-century hand-pulled woodblock print (not a reproduction, lithograph, or offset print). The characteristic fibrous texture of Japanese *washi* (kozo) paper is clearly visible when held against the light, and traces of pigment showing through from the back—caused by the heavy pressure of the woodblocks during printing—are evident on the reverse side. Framing: The print is housed in a vintage gilt-wood frame with protective glass. The back retains the authentic label of the renowned American framing studio United Picture & Frame Co. (Pasadena/Alhambra, California), where the triptych was framed sometime between the 1960s and 1970s. Frame dimensions: The height is approximately 17.5 inches (~44 cm).
