This listing is for a stunning, authentic, turn-of-the-century, Art Nouveau, photo locket Featuring a beautifully detailed thistle motif. Crafted by the renowned Providence, Rhode Island manufacturer Hamilton & Hamilton, Jr., with authentic stamp on the inside. The front showcases high-relief repoussé work, depicting a Scottish thistle surrounded by sprawling thorny leaves. The thistle bulb is elegantly crowned with three ruby-red antique paste stones. The piece features a warm golden finish, typical of H&H's high-quality gold shell/rolled gold plating. The interior/rim features a hand-scratched Roman numeral xvii (17). This is a fascinating historical bench jeweler's assembly mark, done during manufacturing to ensure the custom-fitted front and back frames aligned perfectly at final assembly. Excellent antique condition with minimal surface wear. The repoussé details remain crisp and well-defined. Clasp and hinge are functional and secure.
