Description
This is a Mitsuba Aoi (hollyhock crest) inro. It is the design used up to the 4th generation in the Mito Komon drama series. The main body of the inro is said to be made of wood with black lacquer and maki-e (gold lacquer decoration), but the details are unknown. There are gold lines on the inro body that suggest it can be divided, but they are dummy (decorative). It does not have the divided structure of a traditional inro. Only the top part (the cloud section) is a lid that can be opened and closed. As this is a vintage item, there are scuffs, dents, dirt, and fading due to age, but subjectively, I believe it is in good condition. The white tassel's decorative knot has been hardened to prevent loosening or losing its shape. The items included in this listing are the inro body (including the white tassel with cord, bead, and netsuke), a paulownia box, and the turmeric cloth it is wrapped in.
